Ingredients:
For the Donuts:
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
For the Filling:
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam
- For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
- In a bowl, dissolve yeast and 1 tablespoon sugar in warm milk. Let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
- Add flour, salt, melted butter, egg, and remaining sugar. Knead until smooth. Let rise until doubled in size.
- On a floured surface, roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out donuts and let rise again.
- Fry in 375°F (190°C) oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in strawberry jam.
- Once cooled, make a hole in the side of each donut. Pipe in the strawberry cheesecake filling.
- Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze. Drizzle over filled donuts.
